Easy Almond - Milk Toffee (microwave version)

Ingredients

2 cups powdered milk
1 and 1/3 can condensed milk (300 gm can)
3 tbsp butter
1 cup ground almonds...approx

Method

Stove top Version

Mix the powdered milk and condensed milk in a heavy or non-stick pan until well blended. Mine was a bit thick so I added 1/4 cup whole milk.
Put on low heat. Add butter and keep stirring till it leaves the sides of the side of the pan. Do not let it get too stiff.
Take off and cool.
Turn out on a buttered surface. Add almond powder and knead until a dough-like consistency. Shape as desired. Refrigerate.

Microwave version

Note: You can also make this in the microwave by putting everything except the almonds in the microwave at 50 % power and removing after 5 minutes and stirring.  Thereafter cooking at 50 % power at 1- 2 minute increments until the ball stage is achieved.  Add the ground almonds when the mixture just starts to leave the sides and stir well.  Remove and spread on a greased sheet and smooth the top.  Cut into diamonds or squares when cool, store in the refrigerator when completely cooled.

You can also add a color of your choice after the almonds have been added and mixed well.

  3. Hi Lisette, your recipe sounds delicious. I am going to give it a try, time permitting…Is the end result chewy or is it crunchy?
