Clam Chilly Fry

Here is a quick and easy way to enjoy tinned clams.  When you come home hungry from work and have a craving for some Goan seafood flavors, open a can and a few minutes later dinner is served!  I did not use baby clams, but chopped ocean clams which was a new product on the grocery shelves.

Ingredients

2 cans chopped Ocean clams, drained and rinsed ( 85 gm each)
1 very large or 2 small onions roughly chopped.
1 medium tomato
1 teaspoon full ginger/garlic paste
1/2 teaspoon green chilly paste or to taste ( can use fresh green chilly if you have some)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 fresh lime ( use vinegar to substitute)
1 tablespoon olive or coconut oil

Method

Heat the oil in a pan.  Add the onions, garlic, ginger paste and green chilly. Also add 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Stir.

When the onion is translucent, add the tomato and the spices. Stir and cook till the tomato is soft.
Add the clams and cook for about 5-7 minutes.  Squeeze the juice of 1/2 a fresh lime and stir.
Taste for acidity and salt. Add more lime or salt if needed.
Garnish with chopped coriander. (optional) and serve.
