Goat Curry - slow cooker version

My first attempt at cooking goat curry in my kitchen.  The moral of the story is that anyone can cook at home, and not be frightened by the thought of all the work it might entail. Pull out your slow cooker, open your ground spice containers, add a cutting board to the mix.... and surprise that special someone in your life - YOU!

Ingredients

1 pound goat meat cubed or bone in
2 Tablespoons + 1 teaspoon olive oil
2 large onions diced
4 large Roma tomatoes diced
1 heaped teaspoon garlic powder
1 heaped teaspoon ginger powder
2 heaped teaspoons coriander powder
1 heaped teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 level teaspoon chili powder (or to taste)
1 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
juice of 1 lime
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander for garnish
2 large potatoes cooked and cubed (optional)

Method

In a large non metallic bowl salt the meat and add all the dry spices, ginger and garlic.    Add the lime juice and mix well so all the meat is coated.  Add 1 teaspoon of oil and mix well.  Leave aside.
In the pot of the slow cooker add the onions and the 2 tablespoons of oil.  Stir to mix well.
Layer the tomatoes on top evenly.
Finally add the meat in a layer on top.  Add 1/2 cup of water along the side and do not stir.  Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.  Check the pot after 4 hours to see if more water is needed, and add 1/4 cup more water if needed.  Do not add too much water because you want a nice thick curry.  Fifteen minutes before finishing time add the cooked potatoes, stir, cover  and continue cooking.
